Cultivate - Training Track

Is your dancer looking to be pushed, challenged and given constructive feedback in dance? Then we encourage them to join our Cultivate Program, Bloom’s skill-based training track.

To join Cultivate, please start by reading through this entire page to understand what is required of our Cultivate dancers.

Then, please register your dancer for our Cultivate Evaluation Class which takes place on Saturday, April 12th, 2025 between 9:00 am - 1:00 pm in Studio 2.

Please note, that any dancer that takes the Evaluation Class should be prepared to start a Ballet Placement Class on Mondays throughout our 6-week summer session.

CULTIVATE PROGRAM OVERVIEW

  • Cultivate is a training track for dancers looking to be pushed, challenged and given constructive feedback as they grow and excel in their Ballet, Jazz and Modern training.

  • Cultivate is a track for dancers who are choosing to make dance their primary activity and focus.

  • Cultivate classes will remain true to Bloom’s positive and encouraging atmosphere but dancers should expect to be challenged and placed in a focused classroom environment.

  • Joining Cultivate would remove dancers from aged-based classes in Ballet and Jazz. Dancers will still register for Tap, Hip Hop, Musical Theater, Seeds and Contemporary with their age levels.

  • Cultivate would be a great option for a dancer who has done a year or more of age-based classes and is looking for a more focused and challenging classroom environment.

PRE-REQUISITES:

  • Bloom requires all dancers to start with at least one year of an age-based ballet class before joining Cultivate.

  • Dancers must be 7 years old or older to join Cultivate.

  • Dancers will enroll in our Cultivate Evaluation Class which takes place on Saturday, April 12th, 2025 between 9:00 am - 1:00 pm in Studio 2.

  • The Cultivate Evaluation Class will determine whether your dancer is ready for Cultivate or should continue in age-based classes before joining.

  • If deemed ready for Cultivate, dancers will take a 6-week long ballet placement class over the summer session which will determine their level placement for the upcoming season and also prepare your dancer to be up to speed with current Cultivate dancers.

  • Dancers will receive a level placement by Fall Registration to enroll in the correct classes.

  • Dancers should expect to be placed NOT by age, but by skill/readiness level.

EVALUATION & PLACEMENT PROCESS:

Given the intensity of the program and the limited space available in each level of our Cultivate Program, we want to ensure you understand what the evaluation class is and what a placement class will determine for your dancer. Please carefully read the information below:

  • Dancers must attend our required Cultivate Evaluation Class on Saturday, April 12th, 2025, to assess their readiness for the program (no exceptions). Evaluations will be based on their knowledge, skill demonstration, and class engagement. If your dancer is unable to attend on April 12th, we kindly ask that you wait to register for next year.

  • Dancers who are interested in joining the program must currently be in a ballet class (at Bloom or any other studio).

  • Dancers who are ready will be required to enroll in a placement class for the 6-week summer session. (Dancers who are not ready will be encouraged to take another year of age-based ballet.)

  • Dancers will be placed in a 6-week summer placement class by age. The placement class will determine which level your dancer will be placed in for the fall.

  • Before Fall Registration opens, your dancer will receive their level placement for the Cultivate Program so that you can participate in early registration as a Cultivate family.

  • Dancers should expect to be in each level for a minimum of 1-3 years before advancing to the next level. Advancing to the next level is based on ballet technique which is adjudicated by the Cultivate Director.

  • Levels are not based on age but on technical ability which is assessed in the placement class and in yearly placement assessments.

FALL LEVEL REQUIREMENTS:

After your dancer is placed, they will be given specific class times along with their level requirements, which are listed below.
